Long awaited update!

After much harassment about not updating our blog, I finally decided to sit down and let everyone know about what's going on in our lives. I finished up my first semester of nursing school in December and actually pulled through with all A's. I go back to start my second semester in about a week...let's hope this semester is just as successful as the last! Chuck has been on Christmas break for a couple weeks now and has enjoyed his much needed R&R...those middle schoolers can really take a toll on him sometimes. Now we can start the countdown for spring break and then summer break! :o)

We had a nice Christmas with both of our families. We drove down to Moberly on Christmas Eve and enjoyed a nice evening and Christmas afternoon with Chuck's family. We went to mass on Christmas Eve and then opened presents that night. Christmas afternoon we had a delicous lunch complete with turkey and all the fixings! Thank you Fred and Judy for such a wonderful Christmas! We attended the Coldwell family Christmas on Saturday the 27th. My mom and dad graciously hosted 35 of our family members for Christmas this year. It was so much fun! My dad dressed up like Santa and passed out all of the gifts...it's been a fun tradition that they started a couple years ago. As predicted, Kali freaked out when she saw him. She knew it was papa but she still kept screaming.

Chuck and I rang in the New Year low key at home. I was supposed to work that night but I got cancelled, so we rented a couple of movies and hung out at home. At midnight we went outside on our porch and watched the fireworks and shared a kiss of course!

Sorry there are no pics to go along with this update. My camera has been broken since October and it hasn't been replaced yet. As soon as I get a new camera I'm sure the updates will be more frequent. Happy New Year to all of our friends and family. Here's to a fabulous 2009!!

Auntie Rebecca

A couple weeks ago while I was working, Chuck invited Rebecca over to watch the Chiefs game. She brought her dog (and Cooper's favorite cousin and best friend!) Carter over for a little playdate. I'm so glad Chuck took this picture because it is so precious! She's going to be such a wonderful mother and aunt someday! :)

Royals Game

Chuck's best friends Brian and Tim came up from Columbia to hang out with us and go to a Royals game. We had everyone over for a BBQ at our house before the game and then off to the ballpark to watch the Royals lose to the Twins. Oh well, maybe next year we'll attend a game that they win! It was nice to hang out with our good family and friends one last time before summer ended and work and school began once again. Thanks for coming up guys, it was a great time!
Kellan and Sam were best buds that night...so cute!
Not sure what Chuck is doing in this picture but it's pretty hilarious.

Brian kept warm in Tisha's jacket...and it fit JUST RIGHT!

Pin-up Girls vs. BMW

Sorry I've been absent from Bloggerland for awhile. We've run out of free time since Chuck went back to school mid-August and I started nursing school on August 19th. I do have some updates from the end of our summer.
On August 8th my bowling team (the Pin-Up Girls) bowled Chuck's bowling team (BMW). In true Pin-Up Girls' spirit, we decided to dress up our uniforms and surprise the boys in hopes of intimidating them...haha yeah right! We looked very silly, but it was such a fun night. We may have lost, but we had fun doing it. The Pin-Up Girls ended the season in last place, but just wait because next year we're ready for first! Here's a few pictures from our fun night.

Misty and me

I'm so excited that I just got a strike!

Lovin' the sweatbands ladies!
Tisha's got the spirit!

The Zoo

A couple weeks ago I went to the zoo with my mom and dad and Shanna and Kali. It was a very exciting day for Kali because it was her first trip to the zoo and she loves animals! Shanna has been practicing different sounds animals make with her, so she was definitely prepared to talk to them. She told me that donkeys say "uh huh" and sheeps say "bah-bah" and kitties say "meow" and doggies say "woof." As you can see in the video she was talking to the sheep in the petting zoo and most of them were talking back. She's a pretty smart girl for a 2-year-old...I'm not partial or anything though! :) It was a long and very hot day at the zoo but we all had a really great time. We're looking forward to going in the early fall sometime when it's not quite so hot.
Kali giggled everytime to goat touched her hand...it was so cute!
My mom and dad took Kali on a camel ride...it was a pretty funny sight to see 2 grown adults riding on a camel.

The sheep in the petting zoo weren't shy when they saw my mom with some food for them.

Mr. Gorilla was lying by the window so Kali could hang out with him.

Concert in the park

Saturday night my mom and dad invited Chuck and me to a concert in the park in Kearney. The 2 bands that played were classic rock bands from my mom and dad's era called Head East and Shooting Star. Chuck and I actually knew a couple of the songs they played. We got there 2 hours early so we got got front row seats. Some people were asking us if we knew the bandmembers because we has such good seats. haha. It was a beautiful night and it was so much fun hanging out with my mom and dad. My mom hardly sat down during the concert...she was right up by the stage taking pictures the whole time. We also ran into our old neighbor Jay and his son Josh. I used to babysit Josh and his brother Andy. Josh is now 21 and all grown up and is leaving for Iraq in a couple months. We were so happy to see him and his dad. Good luck Josh...we're all going to be praying for you.
My hubby and me
Awww...they're so in love!

My mom was rocking out the whole night.
You gotta love the hair!
It's so nice running into old family friends...can you believe I used to babysit this kid! He's so grown up!
